Hi, I’m Chuck Sylvester — a technical project manager, solution architect, and hands-on AI/ML engineer based in Northern Virginia. I build modern software solutions using current AI/ML and agentic-AI tools, including Python, LangGraph, and other frameworks that enable intelligent, insight-driven applications.

For more than three decades I’ve helped government and enterprise teams design, build, and modernize large-scale, data-driven systems, with a particular focus on healthcare, financial services, and fraud detection. A lot of my work has centered on Veterans Affairs and DoD health data sharing, where I’ve led teams building applications that help clinicians and analysts see a clearer, more connected view of patient information.

I sit at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and code. I’m comfortable in the weeds with Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, ETL pipelines, HL7/FHIR, and cloud services on Azure and AWS, and I’ve also spent many years leading cross-functional teams, managing multi-million-dollar project portfolios, and working directly with stakeholders to translate real-world problems into working software.

I’m a continual learner and spend a fair amount of time experimenting with AI/ML tools, contributing to side projects, and refining my craft as an engineer and architect.

My current pet project is a full end-to-end reference application that demonstrates data pipelines, AI and machine learning in the healthcare domain, and the presentation of AI-enabled findings within a modern Python + FastAPI + HTMX dashboard.
